The beautiful island of Puerto Rico is ready to welcome you. Let's make sure you have everything you need before you arrive.

DO I NEED A VISA TO VISIT PUERTO RICO?

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States, so the entry rules are the same as those for the US:

International travelers (including other Caribbean islands)

Must have a valid passport.

Citizens of countries that normally require a visa to enter the US must obtain one before traveling to Puerto Rico.

Visas must be processed from your country of origin through the embassies. Here is a list of embassies by country: https://www.usembassy.gov/

It is advisable to have proof of return to your country or transit to another destination.

Exceptions and important notes

If applicable, there are visa-exempt countries with travel authorization through the ESTA program (for visa-exempt countries).

No additional visas are required to visit Puerto Rico if you already meet the requirements for entry into the US.

Puerto Rico welcomes all visitors, offering safety, hospitality, and a unique cultural experience.

Validity/Proof

Your passport must be valid for your entire stay.

You must have proof that you can return to your country of origin or transit through another country. This can be a passport, residence
permit, or visa.

You can provide proof of the reason for your stay. For example, a hotel reservation or an invitation from family or friends.

International travelers (including non-U.S. Caribbean): must present a valid passport and, if applicable, the corresponding visa
or authorization to enter the U.S.
